Question about play clock and snaps in NFL

Seems most quarterbacks bring the clock down to 1 second the majority of the time. Does this not lend an advantage to defensive line as far as getting off the ball?

I'd imagine it would be pretty difficult to get a good look at the play clock if you are a down lineman

Nah, they're probably either watching the ball or the O-line, not the play clock.

Running the play clock down - and thereby shortening the game - favors the inferior team. I'll never understand why the better teams in the league run down the play clock.
