In most scenarios the 1st baseman is either main cutoff with a shallow hit to the outfield or secondary to a straight away hit where a play at the plate is likely. You may say that isn't important, but it could be the difference between 1 run and 2 runs scored with a throwing error that isn't properly backed up.

Agreed, instead of posting in this thread I've been texting some Barve fan friends of mine making fun of him but I do have one question: if the 1B tosses his glove to the catcher and the catcher drops it causing him not to catch the ball is it an error?
