I'm not sure if he's great at recognizing pressure or not. He bailed out of clean pockets and checked the ball down quickly all night. It did result in him avoiding Michigan's blitzes when they did come, but man he looked skittish back there.
He was definitely quick to check it down which makes me think you're right. He's doing everything he can to avoid being hit.

Penix didn’t play well at all, but Washington’s defense not being able to stop the run up the middle in the first quarter cost it the game.
