Theyre finalizing the deal. He'll make 16M the first year of the contract.

16mil for Garcon?

I would have thought he would have gotten half that. He hasn't exactly been spectacular in Washington

Yeah. He's been on the decline and that kind of contract is being handed out. Insane.

It is meaningless without knowing the structure honestly

Giants got the better WR and a lot better contract. Garçon is the most average WR in the league.

16 million in the first year seems to make the structure irrelevant

So Garcon is their WR1 at the moment. Do you think they draft someone?

Maybe. They resigned Jeremy Kerley who had a decent year. They might draft someone in the mid rounds, bigger needs atm.

Not really.

If the majority of that is signing bonus spread out over the length of the contract.

Could only be $4 million/year in cap obligation (and I know that isn't what it will be)

Brandon Marshall needs to fire his agent, because Garçon is about to make 4mil more next season than he'll make in the next two.

What in the frick is San Francisco doing? There's whoring up the market and then there's this

At the end of th day you're paying Pierre Garçon 16 million this year to play football

But you aren't.

That's like saying Brees got $60 million in 2012 to play football. It's for the entire contract

Personally, I'm a fan of putting a large sum into the signing bonus.

Front loaded deal.

Niners have a frickton of cap space for 2017 & have to spend most of it for salary floor purposes relating back to last season
