Padres owner passes at 63. I'm a big Padres fan, just wondering what's going to happen. He was a big spender and they are stuck with some huge contracts and looking for a new coach also. I hate Phil Nevin but it appears he is the front runner for the job.

Hate to hear this. Condolences to his family and Padres fans.

He seemed to revive interest in the Padres. They were already talking about trading Soto and I think they have some financial challenges tied to their regional sports network under the Bally name going belly up. MLB had to take over the production of their games in the middle of last season. Hope this doesn’t mean an even bigger teardown.

That's was fun team to watch this past season. The Rangers got swept in a three game series at San Diego at the end of July. I watched all three games and really enjoyed the series. Out of all of the away Ranger games that was the most interesting crowd behind home plate as there was all season. It's a little like the Rangers fans in the boxes behind home plate. At SD they were in the stands behind home plateMostly different people every night. At least one hot chick, and a few odd folks too.

Love to see them be ahead of the Dodgers and Giants in that NL West.
