Pete Rose: In the HOF or Out

Middle of summer no football at all to talk about. Vandy looking to repeat in baseball so let's talk Pete Rose.
I say he is in the HOF. New evidence shows he bet on baseball as a player. BUT it shows the games he was involved in he bet to win. You cannot fix a game to win. That is your JOB to win. He had confidence about those games and he wanted to WIN.
The HOF is not a group of angels that walked old ladies across the street or saved a cat from a tree. They were hard drinking, drugs, skirt chasers that were good at what they did and had to blow off stress. Why are they revered and Pete is scum.
If he DID NOT bet against his team when he bet then he should be in the HOF. Maybe some of these players today should bet money on their games to win. Light a fire under some asses !!!!!

Out and for me it's not close and it has nothing to do with the new info.
He bet on baseball = goodbye forever

Pete Rose is done, it's over.

In.
1) This happens all the time.
2) He bet on his team to win. He believed in himself and his team. I don't see the problem.
Now, if it was ever proven he bet against himself, that's a different ballgame.

OUT, he admitted the betting. He was a heck of a player, but too full of himself.

Out.
Also anyone caught using PEDs = out.
ETA: It's "Hall of FAME", not "Hall of Infamy".

I always thought he should be in the hall because he didn't do anything wrong as a player. This new evidence has changed my mind. If he bet as a player keep his arse out

they should have a Hall of Shame section at the HOF
Put his arse in there with dudes like ARod and Big Mac.

He bet his team would win. I just can't fathom how that's a conflict of interest.

I dont care what he did off the field. On the field he was a HOF player and therefore deserves to be in the HOF. He deserves it more than the roid heads who cheated to win.

Out. He broke very clear and very serious rules and then lied about it for years. He dishonored the game. Why would the game honor him?

Scenario: Up 4-2 in the 8th in a game he didn't bet. Instead of going to his closer (who he wants to save for tomorrow's game, a game he does plan on betting), he goes to a different reliever and he blows the lead and they lose 5-4. But hey, at least he's got his top guys lined up to go tomorrow as he looks to get out of the red for the week.

You're killing me Smalls.
They gave him every opportunity to own up to his mistake, and he continued to lie for 25 years. frick him.

MANY (most?) of the HOFers would fail drug testing in its current form. If you don't think some of those "heroes of old" weren't doing some form of PED's you are just being silly.
Not really decided on my opinion of in or out on Pete. Was certainly dumb to bet on baseball. But if he only bet on his team to win, then imo it is not as bad as cheaters who are in the HOF now but didn't get caught or there was no test available at the time to check.

In. His gambling has nothing to do with his ability to hit or steal bases. He's already been disgraced for what, 30 years? Including not getting the chance to be a first ballot HOF. I say it's time to put him in.

Good scenerio. And how about this...he used a different book or another method to bet against the Reds.
No way that possibility can be eliminated with all the lies he's spewed through the years.
