After Paul Pierce hit go-ahead 3-pointer, he looked at Hawks bench and said "Series."

This guy is so easy to hate when your team is playing him. Today's NBA doesn't have many "villains" but he is trying to fill that role nicely. Was a huge shot by him, but so glad his words got shoved back down his throat (at least for last night).

He definitely didn't tell the truth that time.

Definitely made me smile.

Did he celebrate a bit too soon? Yes, a lot bit soon.
Is there something wrong with being a fierce competitor and celebrating when you hit a 3 to put you up 2 points with 9 seconds left? No. The dude has played basketball at the highest levels in his career and competed for multiple championships. He's a fierce competitor who loves his craft. Anyone hitting that shot would've celebrated in some manner.
No reason to paint him a villain for that scenario unless you just already dislike like him. It's playoff basketball in an intense series. It's what's suppose to happen. Don't be a pussy

Guy is a great player AND has been a bitch his entire career. frick him and glad the Hawks won last night. Next time he'll shut the frick up until the game is final.

As soon as I saw him talking shite and mugging the crowd with 8 seconds on the clock, I knew the basketball God's were going to be pissed.
Also, Horford traveled.

He didn't just celebrate. He talked shite to everyone around him.

Call it "celebrating" all you want. It's taunting and I'm glad it backfired on him. He's feisty and it gives me an extra reason to pull against him. Nothing wrong with celebrating because it was a huge shot, but let's not act like he was high-fiving with his teammates.

Ohh Jesus, the "my feelings were hurt by his actions/words" crowd is out today.

Settle down. I kind of indicated that I didn't mind it. But if you don't think he is playing up the "villain" role during this playoff (starting with the Toronto series), then you haven't really been paying attention.
I agree it's cool to celebrate when you hit a big 3. It's also cool for the fans of the other team when you not only celebrate your shot but make a point of taunting the other team's bench calling "series" and then going to your bench and taunting the other team's fans saying "I can't fricking hear you," etc. while the game is still on going and then you end up losing. It's all great entertainment.

Sorry for pointing out Celebrating =/= Taunting like a bitch to fans/opponents...
I'm not mad, we played one of the worst games we have played all playoffs and still beat him.

Exactly.
I'm not a Pierce fan or apologist. But whether it was a mistake on his part or not, it made for great TV and great basketball. So yeah, I'm all for it and I doubt he is sitting at home right now thinking, "damn, I look like a fool". He's in the gym shooting 500 more to prepare for hitting another dagger instead, because he puts that much into winning and not people's feelings and thoughts. I wish there were more Paul Pierce's in basketball.

Who said their feelings were hurt? Guy said he was just celebrating, which he wasn't. He can do that all he wants, but it puts him in the villain category when your team is playing him. That all solidifies what the OP said.
