Reminds me of Super Mario.

I'm all for it for those who wish to use to it.

With that said, I don't think it will catch on.

Doesn't look as weird as the David Wright Great Gazoo helmet, which makes me think that, though this will not become the norm, this will become a bit more common soon.

I can't imagine how scary it is to take a liner off the melon; I'd definitely try wearing one in practice a few times and see if it works for me.

Obviously it's more protective than a regular ball cap but it does nothing to protect your grill or the back of your head.

They should have made those mandatory for college pitchers instead of changing the bats. Maybe then I could watch the CWS like I want to

Why not just wear a batting helmet?

Before MLB mandated batters to wear helmets it was optional. Maury Wills wore a plastic insert under his cap when he batted...

...he took the inner lining out when he went on defense. But as you can see from this pic it was not nearly as bulky as the one pictured in the OP.

a seatbelt won't protect me if my car explodes on impact in a wreck, but I still wear it

60% of the head is still exposed... That won't do much good. The line drive that killed first base coach Mike Coolbaugh in 2007 hit him in the neck
