SEC! SEC! SEC!

All for one, one for all. They're all the same, right?

how did that "SEC defense" size work for Tennessee?

Horribly. Alabama won 42-10, their 7th victory in a row in this rivalry

...you didn't watch and apparently don't know Oregon played them.

This is true. Oregon's a more complete team than A&M.

I don't think Texas A&M's offense is necessarily better than Oregon's. However, I don't think you can really compare the two in regard to Alabama's defense and I see this comparison made often.

What breaks down Alabama's defense continually against A&M is something that no other team would even try to replicate: Manziel running circles in the pocket and buying 10+ seconds and making sandlot passing plays in the chaotic broken field that his scrambling creates.

This isn't to make any argument about how Alabama would fare against Oregon. It's only to say that comparing exactly the threat Manziel creates to any other offense I've seen is apples to oranges. Oregon may well score 42 on Alabama but it wouldn't be from doing anything that similar to what Manziel does.

People see Oregon win 42-14 but fail to realize that their "unstoppable" offense was completely shut down by a talented but inexperienced UCLA defense almost all game.

I think it was more their 555 yards of offense against the #12 team in the country. 555 yards does not equate a shut down.

Who cares about yards? Points win games, not yards. 14 (7 by the offense) points through 2.5 quarters = shut down.

Speaking of yards, FSU had 565 yards against the #3 team. Not that it really matters

Also I love how there's all these claims of "SEC bias" in an FSU vs Oregon thread.

Lol, you can't ignore the fact that they scored 28 points in the last 1.5 quarters so it fits into your arguement. The one thing always mentioned about Oregon is that not many teams can hang with them for a full game. So what if UCLA bottled them up for 2.5 quarters. They still got blown out. Now if they get the chance to play Bama or FSU, maybe they'll be able to shut them down for the whole game... or maybe they won't. Hopefully we find out.

And i'm sure this has been brought up in regards to your OP, but voters didn't jump Oregon over FSU. They've been ahead all year. The computers just finally caught up to the polls.

Anyways I seent it with my eyes. Just watch an SEC defense then quickly flip over to see Oregon's D. The size difference is very obvious.

Genro - when I watched the Auburn/LSU game in NOLA nobody had the Stanford/ASU game on in the bar that had 30 TVs. I saw first hand how much SEC fans flip over to watch other conferences.

Likewise, Oregon plays spread offenses and the last two games have been against teams that chuck it all over the yard. UCLA happened to go against the grain in the game and decided for the first time to go with a power run game but we still played nickel. So, yeah you are probably seeing a smaller defense because the teams we play release 5 WR on almost every play.

Watch Oregon vs Stanford when we bring in a bigger base package.

The irony in what you just posted is clearly lost on you. Someone else asked "how did that work out for TN" clearly suggesting that Oregon had no trouble dealing with that particular brand of SEC "size" that you kept suggesting was a uniform advantage across your conference (in comparison to Oregon, that is) and instead of acknowledging this you instead pointed out that Alabama soundly beat the Vols - which for the sake of the discussion is actually totally irrelevant. Awesome rhetorical work bro.

Also really enjoyed that "Oregon wouldn't stop Alabama once" line. Solid.

21 in the 4th is pretty good though. They still play 4 quarters right?

No point in replying to a guy who continually brings up "SEC defenses" in a league this year full of bad defenses - and his insinuation that size determines greatness and yet Oregon ran circles around that size with their speed.

But with "SEC....fan" - reality doesn't factor into it.

FSU is the most complete team, today, in college football. If they continue the rest if the season like they've been playing and get left out, it will be the biggest blunder in the BCS era

Hundley was held to 64 yds passing in that game. UCLA had less than 300 total yards and they average over 460.. UCLAs two scoring drives averaged 33 yards.

I've realized over the years people will believe what they want to believe and fans in certain regions of the country are pretty biased.
