I'd say Ravens for sure need to be added.

I mean, I could see Denver not getting in. I like Dallas getting in, though.

Agree. I think they're that 7th team. But I do agree with the OP's premise in that it's not that wide open this year.

Steelers arent in this list but they gave the pats a hell of a game in new England tonight. 2 missed fgs and a goalline stand cost them, but this still proves the nfl is a VERY tight league and there's no way the premise of this article is true

Steelers offense is going to be legit. But their defense could keep them from being contenders in January.

Would not be surprised at all if Dallas misses the playoffs

Damn there's a lot of Cowboys butt hurt in this thread. To actually laugh at that notion that the Cowboys have a shot at the Super Bowl is pretty ignorant. I definitely don't think we will win the Super Bowl, but we weren't very far last year, and the defense should be much better this season. If the RB committee can collectively put up the numbers that Murray had last year, the only way you can say we don't have at least a shot to win is due to blind hatred.

The melt on the MSB if the Cowboys win the Super Bowl would be all time.

I'm not saying they don't have a shot. A lot of teams have a shot, more so than what are listed.

I'm saying I would not be surprised if they missed the playoffs. I stand by that. I could easily see the Eagles winning that division, and I think the Giants will be improved.

Could be Seattle vs New England again. I really dont see who is going to beat either one at the moment now. The Packers could pull it off, but they need home field.

The Ravens are the only team I think can take out NE in the AFC. The Colts just dont have the defense.

The odds of a Super Bowl loser making it back to the ship are pretty slim. They'll be back in the playoffs, but my gut feeling is they won't make it to the NFC title game this year.

I wasn't responding to you. I wouldn't be surprised if we missed the playoffs either.

That's not how odds work.
If I flip a coin nine times and get heads, it's still 50/50 for the next coin flip.
Now with superbowl losing teams, you could say there's a psychological aspect to it in the player's heads (so unlike the coin flip, the previous result matters), but to dismiss them on the basis that previous SB teams didn't make it back is not smart.

That's fair

I would rather share a jail cell for a day with a shitfaced Lou Holtz than read another article about ESPN's Football Power Rankings Index. Some of the "unique" inputs that factor into their formula are rest, altitude, distance traveled, the seasonal change, and wait for it...if a fricking quarterback isn't participating in games.

Agree.

And yet Chargers goes by unnoticed.

I know this is a Louisiana-centric board, but suggesting the Saints has to be just wishful thinking.

I hope this happens and I'm not even a Cowboys fan.
