Now this comes from someone who never really played past middle school, but is it mandatory to wear your hat forward in baseball? I always wear my hat forward in life, but with the amount of kids we see now wearing their hats backward I'm surprised I never see it in baseball. Is it actually illegal? Would a coach outlaw it?

Never really thought about it.. But a player must wear the same uniform as the rest of the team...the rules, i don't believe, specify whether that includes positioning of the hat though from my understanding one has to be worn. Major leagues has rules regarding under shirts and sleeve length but i don't believe anything regarding your question.

I imagine there is a rule not allowing it. If not, there isn't a coach in America that would let a player get away with that.

Side note: played in a company golf tournament the other day and some guy rolled in with a backwards hat on. Guy in the clubhouse walked on to the putting green and told him he wouldn't play a single hole if he didn't wear his hat the right way.

Pretty sure it's not illegal if you wore your hat backwards, I think it's just one of those unwritten rules of baseball that you just don't do it.

My HS coach did that's for sure.

I'd agree with a baseball coach not allowing a player to do it as it's basically a "look at me" sort of act, but some tour pro getting pissy about it is pretty lame IMO. Again, this comes from someone who's never worn a hat backwards, but it's an individual sport so who gives a frick?

There is a uniform rule that states that everyone's uniform needs to be the same and alike, but nothing specific about caps. Being that caps block out the sun and/or lights, so I am not sure why anyone would want to.

And CC Sabathia wore his hat crooked like a boss

Yea, I'm sure it would be a fashion thing just curious why we've never seen it. Especially with how many kids wear shades these days too.

My HS baseball coach would have kicked even our star players arse if he saw a hat anything but forwards. We had a strict uniform policy even for practice.

You don't frick with baseball purists.

Fernando Rodney of the Mariners is the GOAT when it comes to crooked hats in the MLB.

Would that rule not also apply to hiking up the pants rather than leaving them down? If we're discussing how to wear hats that is, seams like it is the same situation.

People on the same team do go with hi socks and low socks, saw the White Sox have a couple of guys showing all stirrups with everybody else dragging their pants legs on the ground almost.
