Your average homerism is one thing. Picking a team that was sub .500 the year before as the odds-on favorite to make it to/win the Super Bowl is quite another.

Think Dallas makes the playoffs this year? The NFC is stacked and it is going to be tough. That win over Washington was HUGE, even though I think Washington comes back to the pack and finishes around 9-7. With Tampa losing Graham, I think that puts the Cowboys back in it.

Of course i do. and the reason everyone counts them out is retarded, considering its bc everyone says they have played poorly the past month and a half

WELL NO frickING shite, 1/3 OF THEIR STARTERS OR MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS WERE OUT

if/when dallas rolls off two straight and is sitting at 8-4 in two weeks, ifd love to see what everyone is saying then

then pitt will be tough, as will the giants, but the cowboys can and should beat the ravens and the eagles, putting them at 10-6 worst case.

and i think dallas has the perfect combination of toughness on defense and offense to beat pitt.

i most definitely think they wil make the playoffs, its just a shame that they were so banged up and arent competing for the division

so what you are saying is that dallas choked right?

What I'm saying is a delusional fanbase is a fanbase who thinks their team will be much better than it really is or in this case will win a SB when there really isn't anything to substantiate that feeling. The Cowboys may be the most talented team in the NFL, maybe not, but when the current coaching regime and core of players hasn't won anything yet the fanbase is making SB reservations, that to me is delusional.

Saints fans' support is the untold story in sports. If you put our body of work in any other city the team would have folded. Nobody backs up their team like Saints fans. You gotta believe...

Cowboys fans are fair weather. Plus, they suck at life,

The Dolphins. Their fans think they are one of the elite franchises of the NFL. They are not. Let 1972 go. You couldn’t even win a Super bowl when Marino was the quarterback.

The Redskins are pretty delusional as well, I loved the unintentional irony of the local radio station’s “Return to Glory” campaign when Gibbs got hired. But this year, they are doing really well. That doesn’t justify every year of delusion. Then again, I’m a Ravens fan. We’re just hoping our team eventually scores a touchdown.

In my opinion delusional is when fans of a team such as the Cowboys and Saints fans coming into this season, feel they are a lock for the Super Bowl when there really isn't any reason to feel that way based on the previous season.

by no means did i think that the boys were locks to make the super bowl. i did think that they were the favorites though, as did most others

there is not such thing as a lock, as was proven last year when the boys "choked" away the divisonal round game

the fact that the motto of the saint nation is "faith," i think that keeps them out of the running for any sort of delusion

Ha, you only say that because you are a Ravens fan. I would say Skins fans were delusional during the early Snyder years when every free agent was snapped up. It was a new method and it seemed like it would work but it failed miserably. The past few years the offseason has been rather quiet around Redskins Park. Over 15 years of average play has definitely made the majority of the fan base realistic when it comes to expecting things.

True. But come on, WTEM’s ads were hysterical. Like hiring Gibbs was gonna land them in the Super Bowl . I think reality finally set in over the past few years, but I had moved by that point. Now I’ve moved to the new center of delusion: Dallas.

Can't deny that. When Gibbs returned all of the older fans were telling the younger fans of the "golden age" and how amazing it was. I was too young to experience Gibbs first tenure but yeah the expectations of the team were really out of control with Gibbs as the coach to start off. Mark Brunell was our QB, everyone should have known we weren't going anywhere with him.
