And yet Mickey Loomis makes more than almost anyone on this board.

Loomis surely already had this in mind and may have even got a few more million to play with.

With the parody in the NFL, its ignorant to not think any team can be turned around in 2 years.

So, who becomes playoff worthy 1st? Oak or Clev?

Tuck and Jones were quite solid
Justin Tuck had 5 sacks and James Jones had 666 yards and 6 touchdowns. Both were, at best, mediocre for Oakland last season and they both had "meh" seasons.

Woodley has already been cut pushing us near the 70million cap space now.
Yeah, because he sucked and got injured.

Best draft in the NFL
I don't know about best, but I really liked the Khalil Mack and Derek Carr selections. I really, really liked Derek Carr coming out last season.

I don't know. Jack Del-Rio is a great defensive coordinator, but was always a mediocre head coach.

Good luck with that. They have their work cut out for them.

He fits the Oakland Raider persona.

As a Denver Broncos fan, I wouldn't mind seeing them throw the bank at one single player, to be honest.

Sacks is your go to though? Mack and Tuck were great together, and are very close. Half the reason to bring in a guy like Tuck is for that exact reason. Mack only had what, 3 sacks? Did he have a meh year too? No, they were absolute monsters against the run. He has been worth every single penny. Jones too for that matter, those stats are great for a #3 WR at the #1 WR slot, probably has something do with drafting Cooper/White here soon huh? And/or us being the leading candidates to land Randall Cobb should he hit FA, plus Knighton and Hughes. Those are just starters, we'll see on Suh, the Raiders are literally linked to every free agent, and it's not like last years FA class of veterans and small term deals, we have full flexibility and will lock whoever we want up.

quote:

Tuck played a big role in Mack’s rapid development. The two players had adjoining lockers during the 2014 season -- a move the coaching staff made to help Mack learn the ropes in the NFL -- and the Oakland rookie would routinely pick Tuck’s brain about an upcoming opponent, schemes and about life in general.

Right, you act like a 1 year contract for a veteran is bad. It's 1 year, sometimes they work out like Tuck, sometimes they don't.

It is unanimous bro.

JDR, Mike Tice, Brad Seely, Musgrave as OC is meh, Ken Norton Jr at DC is quite solid given what we have at LB and what he did in Seattle.

Raiders are absolutely on the up and up IMO. LOVE their draft last year, and it will pay dividends for years.

I actually really hope they don't screw this FA year up and get saddled with a bunch of awful contracts that hurt them down the road.

They're playing for 2-3 years from now so don't kill yourself with long-term FA contracts (although they will have to sign some big guys just to stay above the minimum).

With Justin Tuck? Absolutely, that is what Oakland signed him for.

He is a linebacker, and the Oakland Raiders don't run a 34 defense. No, that isn't what Oakland drafted him for.

Ehh, I'm going to need something to back this claim up. Oakland was 22nd in the NFL against the run.

No, not really.

Maybe.

Jesus Christ, I'll have what you are having. You act like Oakland is a valued destination for NFL players. You do realize there are other teams that will try to sign these players, right? I'll give you Terrence Knighton due to the Jack Del-Rio connection (he's played for him in Jacksonville and Denver), but you should settle down on them signing all of these big name free agents.

5 whole sacks. Tied for 71st in the NFL.
