Michael Bennett literally just said that the situation with the cowboys and Jerry Jones reminded him of the Dred Scott case with the players being treated like property.

You can be delusional if you want, that's your prerogative.

Even if you took the players at their word...no matter how lucid and well thought out their reasonings are, it’s fricking stupid if for no other reason than it undermines the goal of reaching people with your message.

Besides at every turn the players have contradicted their stated purpose up to and including yesterday

It’s not cord cutting

It’s a lot of things, but the prevalent thing posted on this board all year is that there’s no decline in interest and the ratings are impacted by several external one time events and luck of the draw with teams on national broadcasts

The local ratings puts that to bed
OK, so it's a lot of things, but it's not cord cutting (of which 20% of cable subscribers have done since 2014), it's not hurricanes, it's not CTE, it's not anything we have said, but it's a lot of things.

Just tell us so we can stop this dumb shite.

He is telling us to listen, when he the one spouts off some bullshite reason why they are protesting. I posted the Kap quote on exactly what the protests are about

quote:

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder"

And I listed some, player protests, CTE, cord cutting...

Only affects MNF as others have clearly stated. The rest are available for free in their local markets, and even the first 8-9 weeks of Thursday Night Football are available on CBS.

Cord cutting hurts ESPN more than anything, not CBS/FOX/NBC for their national channels with local affiliates.

Draconian sanctions will he a brick wall for the foreseeable future. He’s incapable of rational thought despite being intelligent...he’s really bent out of shape about the president as you can see from his posts in this thread

If you actually listened to them you'd know it was about protesting on behalf of those who don't have that platform

That sounds good and all but what they are doing at this point is 100% about them and not the "ones without a voice". It's virtue signaling nothing more.

Michael Bennett is full of shite over what happened in LV, I could care less what he has to say. Tell me what he does to help those with out a voice? What has he given? How does buying a multi million dollar vacation home in Hawaii help "fight oppression"

As for Kap his original comments about police brutality are valid, there's an issue there but ultimately his rhetoric is counter productive. Which begs the question does he and other player "activists" really want to do something or do they just want "protest" i.e. Virtue signaling cause the awareness has been made, so take some action toward helping otherwise what's the point?

And just wait for those affiliates to start bitching to the networks...once that happens Goodell and the owners are going to be dealing with unhappy network executives instead of the players

Well don't cord cutters need to get a digital antenna to watch networks? Or does it come with the various packages like Sling PSVue etc? If you need to get an antenna then I'd imagine not everyone does that.

These comments were valid?

"People of color have been targeted by police. So that's a large part of it and they're government officials. They are put in place by the government.
Then he said police officers are modern day slave patrol and posted this picture

In no particular order of relevance and being as brief as possible

Oversaturation

Years of PR blunders including every “gate”

Marketing problems stemming from player conduct policy

Rule changes that have hurt almost every facet of the game from quality of play, style of play, pacing, etc.

CBA agreement regarding offseason activity negatively impacting the quality of play even more

Sterilization of “the shield”

Too many commercials as a result of the networks paying too much

A shift from logo and brand emphasis to marketing individual players

And I can keep going. I do think the kneeling was the final straw in that when combined all of these things put the first crack in the most invincible brand in the United States

You need a $10 digital antenna sold everywhere

And yes networks are included with non cable packages such as Hulu, sling, fubo, etc.

I agree with your reasons why, as do most people.

So why do you want us to "spin it"? I don't understand why you would say that when the overall consensus agrees with your reasons.

Again the point is that it’s nit hurricanes, elections, matchups, stakes...and the kneeling is not irrelevant. In fact it’s quite relevant
