I’ll say the quiet part outloud: catering to local black sports fans ensures your franchise will never be successful in Atlanta. It’s no coincidence that the Atlanta sports team that caters its marketing the most to white fans is also by far the most successful.

You're not wrong. But what's funny is that the demographics of the city of Atlanta have changed greatly since the Olympics. In the 80's it was almost 70% black, now it's 65% white. And the suburbs have become more AA.
It's not all blacks. Not even most. Just a very vocal minority who have these feelings.

Seems like a good deal for both sides. He would have been foolish to leave and start over somewhere else for a few million more. There isn't a team he could have went to with better talent around him than Evans, Wirfs, White, Godwin etc.
Now we can focus on locking up Winfield Jr. and Wirfs longterm.

The racial tension in Atlanta seems as bad as I've felt in Jackson and Memphis previously.
There are some very fine people, on both sides, really... but there's a lot of unhealthy tension as well.

The Mavericks absolutely gaslit the hell out of them. That was projected to be a very deep draft and their whole pitch was why settle for just an All-Star player when you can have an All-Star player plus another plus level starter?
Young has been an All-Star level player since his second season. Luka has been a top 5 player since his second season. Hell his Age 19-25 seasons are far better than LeBron’s but he’s white and European so urban-centric NBA media doesn’t like it or talk about it.
