20-year-old Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was the No. 23 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, and was immediately traded to the Brooklyn Nets. And the first thing the rookie wanted to do when he signed his NBA contract was to buy his mother a house. The Chester, PA native surprised his mother, Rylanda Hollis, recently and capture the emotional moment on film.

Lol he got 3 million guaranteed for 2 seasons with options for over 6 million beyond that, I think he'll be okay buying his mom a decent house.

Not like it's a mansion, pretty basic and semi-dated looking house.

Especially when you can easily just get a damn diploma while you are in the league

Hes n a 4 year deal with a 2 year team option for about 5 mil. That's basically a 2 year guaranteed contract. He's acting like he just signed his.second deal

Mom would be.living in a nice apartment until i got that second contract

yes much smarter! Put mom in nice apartment so your pissing money away each month instead of investing in a nice home that will only increase in value.

Yeah, I was going to say it looks like the house was maybe like $250k or something. This was obviously a lifelong dream of his to buy his mom a house. If he's going to be sensible with the rest of the ~$2.5 million guaranteed, I'm sure he'll be fine.

Misunderstood what you were saying. Thought you meant he had a two year option at the end of the 4 year deal. I'm dumb and forgot how the rookie deals work

Still though, we have no idea how much the house cost. He can easily get a degree while in the NBA. He can still go back to school whenever he gets out the league. You have no idea what else he is doing with his money.

How is buying real estate a bad investment. Especially for his mom. That house was probably 300k and will appreciate

Not like he bought her a 300k rolls

Unless things have changed in the past couple of days, I'm pretty sure you can "buy a house" without putting 100% of the money up front first.

Besides as the other poster put it, he bought an asset. One that will appreciate value over time. Sounds more like an investment than a some frivolous purchase.
