I disagree. It was no secret that they missed his bat throughout August and September. He's served is suspension. Time for the return of the Boom Stick!

they missed his bat i just doubt his "bat" wont be affected by missing that much time. if he contributes ill be shocked, although only slightly.

Better than not having his bat in the lineup at all.

I'd much rather see Cruz in this game than Murphy or Profar. Plus Cruz has the playoff experience and has shown time and time again that hes a clutch player. Granted the rust from the suspension could show, but I would be willing to take my chance with Cruz

Not a gamble at all. The Rangers offense desperately needs a power bat. Which Cruz provides. He's going to play because he's a far better hitter than anyone else they could trot out there.

when he hasnt been sitting down for 1/3 of the season. thats what makes it a gamble. pretty self explanatory.

if he gets on base once, it was worth the gamble. I'd imagine he'll have a sac fly or something of that variety

um ok. no.

if he has a good game it will certainly have payed off, but calling it NOT a gamble is a tad stupid.

Yes, but my point is that their non-Cruz options are uniformly terrible. Which means there is no gamble because it's either a "cold" Cruz or a hitter you already know sucks. They aren't risking anything.

I never said it wasn't a gamble. But how is letting Cruz DH any more of a gamble than playing Moreland at 1st against a lefty? To me, that's way more of a gamble than letting Baker play 1st.

Or, let Cruz play right, Rios in left, Gentry/Martin in CF(obviously Gentry tonight per lefty pitcher and Craig has been really hot the last few weeks) and let Baker DH

They had talked about Baker playing 1st. Unfortunately, he is still dealing with that sports hernia injury and from what I have heard that he would only be able to DH.

well that sucks. His average has dipped a little in the last month, but like Soto, it seems every time he's given an opportunity he produces

Agreed. I'm sure you'll see one of them in a pinch hit situation for someone like Gentry.
