I forgot what year they played but both universities played each other for a chance at a split national championship with Michigan might have been 97 the last year before the BCS game.
Both have fallen on hard times since the late 90's early 2000's. I believe 2001 was the last year that either of them have been in the hunt for a national
Championship
Who do you believe has a chance to win a national championship again
A) Nebraska
B) Tennessee
C) Neither
D) Both
E) New Mexico State

A national title? Tenn

Nebraska leaving the Big12 was a terrible move for football and being a national power.

All it takes for Tenn, is to finally make a homerun hire. They can recruit, and have some great facilities.

But hiring the right head coach is the dealio.

I see a little non yellow in Omaha
Isn't that the where Bob Gibson is from.

I understand what you are saying and plus isn't the population in the state of Nebraska declining as a whole as well

Vols will be hot garbage this year and fire the coach, so they'll be in rebuild mode. Again.

So I'll go with Nebraska.

I can't see either winning it in the next 5 years

10 years might be more plausible

Nebraska is barely relevant and Tenn has to play Bama every year and make it through the SEC Championship game.

Tennessee has an issue much like Oklahoma that a lot of their players come out of state.
To say though that Tennessee cannot recruit is a lie. Tennessee still makes a living in Georgia and Florida getting recruits.

Unlike Nebraska both OU and Tennessee have states around them with tons of talent.
Nebraska is pretty much a wasteland and only state they are near that produces any talent is Missouri but Nebraska no longer has a presence inside that state

Plus that map is percentages as well
So a County with 2 million people might only have 100,000 African Americans and come up yellow while a County with 89,000 might only have 20,000 African Americans and come up darker

Nebraska is done. Mike Riley is the type of hire you make when you don't want to suck every year, but you're accepting of your team no longer being a player on the national level. For every 9-10 win season, there's going to be a 4-5 win one.

I'm with most that think it's Tenn, but the one case you could make for Neb is the B1G goes back into the tank if Urbs and Harbaugh move on.
