I think there was a guy from Memphis a few years back that had a 46 inch vertical

DJ Stephens I think?

Yeah. And I cant remember who was first, but he passed Shane Larkin for 2nd. The fact that Larkin was 2nd all-time was a little surprising to me

not sure who holds that combine record, but the guy you're thinking of is Michael Wilson, maybe? Crazy vertical, from Memphis, quite a while back.

Kenny Gregory was shown as the record holder at 45.5'' but Stephens jumped 46''.

When I saw the thread title, I thought immediately of this kid in the video below.. he's a UNLV commit. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get this high above a rim.

Obviously I wasn't being totally serious because there are plenty of not so athletic pitchers, but his athleticism certainly contributes to his ability to throw hard.

NBA combine

They get a running start at the NBA combine, judging by the video of Connaughton's jump.

That video was the 2-step max vert. He had a standing vert of 37.5 inches.

He was also faster in the sprint than most (tied for 6th).
