I'm just typing my thoughts, and I realize 3/4 of the season remains...

Say the Irish drop their game in Clemson then run the table. You think that's enough for them to get a spot in the CFP?

Even though they won't play in a conference championship, they're the media's darling; and I don't see a one loss Notre Dame being left out of the equation.

I'm not sure they even drop to Clemson. this ND team looks physically different than the 2012 team. bigger, faster, stronger and more confident

Assuming they don't lose to the tune of 62-0, yes. They'll still have room to makeup with wins against USC, Stanford, Navy, Boston College, Pitt, etc.

Depends on whether or not Brian Kelly kills another student.

No. ND will have to go undefeated and that's how it should be without a conference championship.

Slight hijack, but this is what I hate about college football. The season practically just started and 25% of the season is already over.

The answer is it depends. If it's like 2007, definitely. If it's like last year, probably not. It's reasonable to assume the SEC Champ and either Ohio State or Michigan State get in if they win the Big Ten with 1 or 0 losses (though ND could get in over 1-loss Ohio State). But if the Pac 12 Champ has two losses, which is a real possibility, 11-1 ND is likely over them. If Clemson loses to Georgia Tech and drops another game and GT is able to win the ACC, that puts ND in a really good spot. ND would very likely be in over a non-undefeated Big 12 team in that scenario and over any ACC team.
