NBA Coaching Disparity in the NBA Conferences

Just did a little more digging in response to a previous comment I made.
Head coaches in the Eastern Conference account for a total of just 7 CONFERENCE FINALS appearances ever, 5 FINALS APPEARANCES, and 2 FINALS CHAMPIONSHIPS. Take away Spoelstra winning with LBJ/Wade/Bosh who accounts for 4 FINALS APPEARANCES and 2 FINALS CHAMPIONSHIPS and you have a total of 3 CONFERENCE FINALS APPEARANCES for head coaches in the eastern conference, only one has been to the NBA Finals (Stan Van Gundy, lost 1-4, no one but Spoelstra has won one as a head coach.
Head coaches in the Western Conference account for 8 NBA Finals championships and so many final appearances and conference finals appearances that I didn't even feel like counting them all.
Another embarrassing stat for the East, LBJ has accounted for 6/9 last final appearances for the East (more than the east head coaches combined), 2 championships and 7 eastern conference final appearances (tying all of the head coaches in the east combined).
Why is it so hard for the East to get quality coaches?

Glad you clarified, if we were talking about the NBA coaching disparity in the AFC/NFC I was gonna be hella confused.

What are the numbers for the West when you take away Pop?

3 nba championships (you can make it 4 because Kerr is winning another one), and still way more finals appearance and conference appearances than the east head coaches.

I'm not sure why it's embarrassing to the coaches that Lebron makes the finals.

You get onto the east coaches because they have lebron on their team, but no problem chalking 1 up to kerr who could legitimately have one of the 2 best NBA teams in history.

What a terrible thread. RA and pretend it never happened.

What did Mark Jackson do with the GSW? What has Steve Kerr done with the GSW? I rest my case. It is a legitimate statement that in the past 6 years coaches in the East have no chances if LBJ isn't on their team. I'm not getting on to the coaches because of LBJ, I'm getting on to the GM's and the coaches for their lack of championship experience and inability to reach even the conference finals.

Yeah, steph curry is shattering all time shooting records because of the coaching change.

Eastern conference coaches don't know how to gameplan against LBJ. Pop, Carlisle, and Kerr did it quite well.

Wat does this have to do with winning championships? If you want to sit here and argue Kerr isn't the driving force behind the GSW success than I refuse to participate, his adjustments were the reason they won the finals last year.

Well thats why Lebron stays out east, he wants nothing to do with the gauntlet out west. Smart man, LeBron will be the GOAT finals appearances player, he'll have 2 titles and 12 appearances when its all over. Just imagine lebron in another 3 years when that athleticism is gone, he's no steph curry thats for sure.

Well to be fair, there are better coaches and teams in the West. It's all speculation but he could have faired well in the West under the right coach.

If Peyton Manning never got flack for something like this, then neither should LeBron.

The Warriors team that Kerr has had is much deeper than the Warriors team Mark Jackson had.

I'm glad you acknowledge Kerr being the driving force.

I'm just going to drop Brad Stevens in this thread. There is a great coach in the east, he just doesn't have a team full of stars like Kerr or Pop.
The fact that championships is your only measure of a coach's success is pretty hilarious.

Yup. Kerr was the driving force to that championship. He would have won the Finals last year with the 76ers too. Had nothing to do with having the best all around shooter in the NBA, an incredible supporting cast, and quality depth off the bench.
Kerr is a great coach and I don't think anyone is denying that, but if you keep blatantly ignoring the quality of talent on a team when evaluating coaches then no one should even bother participating because arguing with an idiot is impossible.
