They use to embrace black culture and rap music in the early 2000s but distanced itself after the Malice in the Palace. It's slowing coming back though.

I'm really disappointed. The jokes are so plentiful here and no one has taken a swing.

How? How the frick is it coming back? You don't think if the NFL was playing in February they wouldn't have black history month stuff? The league where the players refused to stand for the national anthem?
Did you know that during Hispanic Heritage Month the NFL celebrates it:

I bet you think Lebron James is probably a thug.

I watched the NBA Network today at a restaurant and the Topic du jour was that "NBA History is Black History"

And after 30 minutes of political diatribe on the NBA network they then proceeded to hock the NBA Black History Month shoes which are now available for purchase.

Here are the 2017 NBA Black History Month's Shoe Collection Prices:
Kyrie 3 - $120
KD 9 - $160
LeBron 14 - $175

There is good news though that due to insufficient demand for the Black History Month NBA shoe sale in 2016 the prices have significantly decreased.
Lebron was $220 and its now $175
KD was $180 and its now $120
and Irving who already had his shoes discounted at $120 was able to generate enough support to keep it at $120 this year.

Well rap culture has changed from a lot from then and now so I don't think it's nearly the same culture they are embracing now vs then

Posted by IAmReality on 2/13/17 at 3:18 pm to JabarkusRussell The NBA has sort of given up on having mainstream appeal as it did in the 80's and 90's. They seem content how to be the official sports league of black people. And that's perfectly within their right to do as a business... although I question how intelligent it is as a business decision.
