since it's the deep south I'd go barkley.

I wouldn't even consider rousey. 5 years from now nobody will ever remember who gave their speech. People will remember barkely/bird talking for a while.

Rousey has a real interesting story with her dad's suicide and not being able to speak until she was 6. Could also connect with that age group a lot better than Bird or Barkley.

Wow! Wasn't aware of her background. That may be a game changer...

I want to say the dad broke his back sledding with her and her sister when Ronda was somewhere around 8 and basically killed himself so the family didn't have to watch him suffer. She can barely talk about it now, was a huge story in her last fight when Correia made a suicide joke to her. Her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck and she couldn't speak until 6. She would actually have a real good story to tell high school aged kids. Was also homeless living in her car after the Olympics.

Okay, it's a metro area somewhere between North Carolina and the southern tip of Florida....

I would take Barkley even if he was the most expensive.

Will today's high schoolers identify with him? Their parents? No doubt. But remember, this event is to honor high school athletes.

I'd go Barkley since you have an audience of high school athletes in a metro area.

No, I just think high schoolers in a city would rather hear from Barkley than Bird or Rousey.

i've heard enough talking from barkley on tnt, i'd go rousey cause she's attractive and is a fierce competitor. Bird would be runner up.
