I give Carwin the advantage in stand up also. My question is whether Brock's ego and aggression lets him fight the smarter fight by taking it to the ground to attempt to pound out a victory. Brock won't be able to overwhelm Carwin with punching power to get to the GNP like he has done so far. He may have to go ahead and rely on his wrestling take downs, which to me would be the smarter strategy. We will see. So far all we have seen is Brock overwhelming in the standup knocking guys down to proceed to GNP. Tall task against Carwin of equal size and strength and potentially better stand up.

it won't happen unless M-1 drops their request to co-promote with the UFC. This is the one thing Zuffa/UFC won't give in to.

I realized a little while back that the only way Fedor ever fights in the UFC was if he lost. So if it had to happen, this wasn't a total loss. My feed went out, but i hear Fedor knocked him down, jumped in and got caught in a triangle. That's not getting his arse whooped or dominated. Hopefully his posse quits asking for the moon, and Dana can put a sock in it long enough to not offend the guy and get him signed.

Fedor was way too aggressive. It was really kind of a glancing blow that he knocked Werdum down with, u could tell he wasn't hurt. Then Fedor dives straight into Werdum's full guard and was almost immediately in a triangle. He thrashed loose and went right back into it and was in another triangle...this time to the finish. He didn't get his arse kicked, but its def. his fault he lost.

Fedor post fight:

quote:

Emelianenko, who was said to have been consoling his sullen team members backstage afterward, was characteristically calm following the defeat, smiling to the press as he answered questions.

“It happens that I was made kind of an idol,” said Emelianenko. “Everybody loses. That happens. I’m an ordinary human being, as is all of us and if it is God’s will, the next fight I will win.”

The Russian star said he would welcome a rematch with Werdum if the Brazilian granted it.

“I am very, very sorry and it’s a pity that I disappointed people that really believed in me and trusted me, but everything in this life happens for some reason,” said Emelianenko.

Emelianenko made no excuses for the loss. He said his camp went according to plan and nothing felt or appeared out of the ordinary as he headed into his 34th professional bout.

“I tried to work out (motivated) to come into the fight in my best shape and the fight today showed that maybe I didn’t work enough,” he said. “I didn’t manage to make all my technique to become automatic. That means I will have to work more.”

Fedor does not need the UFC. The UFC needs Fedor. Fedor lost this more than Werdum won it. UFCs heavyweight division is nothing special. Fedor is better than anyone they have. Their champion Brock Lesnar was basically handed the title. The guy has 4 freakin' wins, majority were against scrubs, yet they have him as the face of their franchise. The only guy of significance he beat was Couture, who was WAAAAAY past his prime. In my opinion, Lesnar is still riding in the coattails of his WWF days. Carwin is his 1st real threat and he will expose Lesnar for the fraud he is.

Neither side truly needs the other right now. Fedor is going to have to cave in to UFC if he ever joins that organization but the UFC HW division and Fedor are doing just fine right now without each other business wise.

Last time I checked the UFC is doing quite well without him.

Not sure what to think of those Cash. Either Le has a brutal spin kick with the force delivered by his calf or his heel clipped smith in the ribs.

Le was hitting smiths body the whole fight. That shot was strong but not enough to knock someone down on its own. It was all the shots before that made that shot so painful for smith

i think his heel clipped his ribs. But he was surely wearing his body out all night. When i first saw it i immediately thought his ribs were broke.

So what does Fedor do from here?

Imo Fedor fights Big Foot Silva in his last fight under current contract. Fedor KOS Silva, do to the fact he is a better striker.

He then decides to take up the UFC's offer and fights Coulture. No way Dana feeds him directly to winner of Lesnar vs. Carwin. Thats the fight I have been wanting to see for awhile. Coulture vs. Fedor. Both are very good on the ground with the striking edge going to Fedor. I predict Fedor by KO with Randy unable to keep it on the ground.
