Yeah, he's got 5 years left on his contract for a little over 100 million...not bad at all, and he's still in his prime.

34 year old Nelson Cruz just got almost 15m a season and he can't even play defense.....
quote:

Kemp is owed $107 million for five seasons. He is 30 years old and hit .287 with 25 homers and an .852 OPS in 150 games this year. Here’s a list of all the MLB outfielders with higher adjusted OPS+ than Kemp this year: Andrew McCutchen, Mike Trout, Giancarlo Stanton, Jose Bautista, Michael Brantley, Yasiel Puig. That’s it. That’s the whole list. (And he was even better in 2011 and 2012).

It's tough to hate on Beane since he has done some pretty amazing shite, but what in the frick. That lineup is so fricked.

I would do that, they wont get anything back for either Ethier or Crawford thats noteworthy like they would for Kemp.

there is no way in hell we enter spring training with both either and Crawford. I hope to god we keep kemp, just for the reason that I am praying what we saw this last half and in the playoffs is what he is again

im not necessarily sure what we could get for kemp though. hes in that gray area where you don't want to make a clear cut salary dump but you cant really command any top prospect

They wouldn't get studs for Kemp, they would get more than the other two but not much. Best bet would be to take back a bad contract, hell maybe Crawford for Jimmy + Howard if Jimmy waives his no trade clause

I think they can... but they're going to have to send some money back the other way in order to do so. Swallowing 20 million or so it would lessen the risk for opposing teams and they would be more open to giving up a premium guy(s).

A better idea than shelling out 80+ million dollars for Martin IMO.

Agreed. Montero has 3 years left at 12, 14 and 14. That's fair value for what he brings to the table. He's also a much needed left handed bat

Sources: #DBacks would receive pitching prospects from #Cubs for Montero.

Interdesting. Probly nothing to expensive here. Given 3 yrs/40M left on his deal

Yea his salary wouldn't be conducive of a premium package return.
