There seems to be a building consensus that baseball will soon be headed to a 32-team configuration. It will lead to major realignment and adjustments in schedule, which will allow MLB to address the growing concerns of the union about travel demands and off days. Read more at

One Proposal would be these divisions:

quote:

East: Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Miami, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay and Washington.

North: Boston, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota, Montreal, both New York franchises and Toronto.

Midwest: Both Chicago franchises, Colorado, Houston, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis and Texas.

West: Anaheim, Arizona, Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco and Seattle.

The East would’ve been terrible this season.

It is so dumb how Texas and Houston are in the West.

A Portland team??? Ehh... doesn't strike me as a good baseball place and there are already a ton of West coast teams.

I just can't see a sport where stats and records mean more than in any other sport reducing the number of games.

But the season used to be 154 games.

Ruth's original HR record was a 154-game season.

They should go back to 154 games. There would be no beef about the record books, because it was like that for 50 years or something.

Don't like that idea at all. Maybe realign some divisions but don't like the expansion choices(mainly Portland).

Isn't the Battered Bastards of Baseball about a team from Portland?

Is it just too hot to have a team in New Orleans?

Yeah let’s give Montreal a team. They couldn’t support one when they had the best team in the league. What will go wrong?

Heat wouldnt be an issue. Just put in a retractable roof stadium. People always say we don't have a large enough metro area or enough corporations to buy enough tickets

Shorten the season and go to 100% DH opens the door for other ways to shorten the average game time... limit catcher/pitcher mound meetings. Maybe even limit the number of intr-inning relief pitcher changes per 9 innings.

Expand the roster to allow 1 extra pitcher in the dugout - would allow teams to adopt a 6 man rotation and hopefully reduce stress on starters, thereby reduce the usage of mid-inning pitcher changes.

Awful idea getting rid of AL and NL. You could just add an extra division to each league and have it like the nfl.

Al west Oakland, portland, seattle, laa

Al north cws, detroit, Minnesota, Cleveland

Al south houston, texas, kc, Tampa

Al east nyy, Baltimore, Boston, Toronto

NL west lad, San Francisco , San diego, Arizona

NL north Chicago cubs, cinci, colorado, Milwaukee

NL south atlanta, miami, Washington, st Louis

NL east nym, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Montreal

I know the mess would be the cubs and cardinals rivalry.
