so two months are in the books, lets look at the top 5 rookies through today by wRC+. using at least 110 at bats cause arbitrary cut off points
1. Joc Pederson OF Dodgers .258/.387/.546 .933 OPS 157 wRC+ 2.2 fWAR
2. Kris Bryant 3B Cubs .281/.395/.479 .875 OPS 142 wRC+ 1.8 fWAR
3. Billy Burns OF A's .327/.373./.436 .809 OPS 133 wRC+ .8 fWAR
4. Steven Souza OF Rays .238/.333/.475 .808 OPS 133 wRC+ 1.1 fWAR
5. Devon Travis 2B Jays .271/.336/.504 .839 OPS 132 wRC+ 1.4 fWAR

How do rookie seasons work? I figured Souza's rookie season was last year.

he only had like 20 plate appearances right? in baseball, you are considered a rookie until youve had 130 at bats or if youve been on the team for 45 days before the roster can be expanded

As long as he can keep his walk rate up, I think this is what we'll see from him.

Probably not, I want to say they blew their load. Like they wanted the guy Boston has because they knew they would suffer the penalty next year.
