It's amazing how almost everyone in this country is convinced a single elimination playoff system is by far the best way to determine a champion

FCS actually uses a 24-team bracket. They expanded a few years back. The 8 national seeds get byes to the 2nd round.

Too much wear and tear on the kids bodies at that point.
You would have to lower the reg season to 10 games for it to work, otherwise injuries and fatigue would be too big of an impact

It would but you have to figure something out that is a big deal to make it work. Going from 12 to 10 games (this would kill the small schools that play big teams for big paydays, they need that money) and figuring what to do with conference championships.

i def wouldn't mind reducing the season to 10 games, plus the conference title game, then adding an 8 team playoff or so ...

To play 15 games at the most? Hell the NFL regular season is 16 games before the playoffs and they aren't exactly falling apart. This is such a pussy thing to say. There's no reason we can't at least have 32 teams. This bowl system is complete and utter sh*t.
