Has the investigation lasted 3 years or did the stock begin the climb then and the investigation is just starting?

After reading again not sure why they wouldn't question before Thursday if this has been going on for 3 years. Lol

Why do you end every post with Lol?

And if they are following up for questions after 3 years, they are probably looking to support or refute a specific event

What are you trying to show me with that link?

I'm fully aware of what the purpose of the SEC is.

For Phil? I have no idea. Hopefully that kpmg sponsor came with some advice

This is longer than a usual SEC look in for successful trades

the investigations are usually closed out quickly. They've found something

which is bad news when it comes to the SEC

I love Lefty, and I'm not even saying that he is in trouble. 3 year long investigations are not normal, nor do they happen all the time

What makes you think it is a three year investigation? I don't know, so I am just asking?

I heard on the telecast today that Phil hasn't had a top 10 finish this year. I wonder how long he's known about the investigation? It's early, but it will be interesting to see how this effects his playing schedule the rest of the year.

the article

quote:

Five-time major winner Phil Mickelson is one of three men being investigated in what the Wall Street Journal calls "a major insider-trading probe involving finance, gambling and sports," the newspaper reported on its website Friday night.

...

Both the FBI and SEC are reviewing the trading patterns of both Mickelson and Walters as part of an investigation that began three years ago when Icahn made a $10.2 billion offer for Clorox, causing the stock to jump, the report said.

Well they only have 5 years from the trade before prosecuting or seeking fines for insider trading will become much more difficult.

The Supreme Court recently ruled against the SEC where they tried to extend the 5 years in cases of fraud.

Again, I refer to Mark Cuban which fought it and won earlier this year.

I would consider charges being brought against him as pretty significant and not standard.

Those charges were brought against him in 2008, and he spent more on his attorneys than the fine would have been.
