There is hardly an academic gap between Neb and Mich. or between Mich and osu for that matter.

OSU has made incredible strides in making sure it gets smarter students. It has higher academic standards now.

Apparently he has a high school gpa of 3.1. He has no chance of getting into Michigan with that.

Depending on his race...he absolutely could get into Michigan with that GPA.

The coach was maybe too honest..I got in to Michigan out of state, so did others that I know.

That Dad was damn right to kick that guy out of his house though. Given the structure and the competitive nature of the school, the kid may have excelled, or he may have done poorly. Guess we'll never know now, but thats not the wisest recruiting tactic.

No doubt. We don't know exactly how it was worded. I doubt he was trying to offend him and was probably trying to sell the academic opportunity of Michigan

And you had over a 3.1 at a pretty good school. I'm assuming your ACT score was high as well

Yeah, I can't imagine the coach came right out and called him stupid but it was more a toxic combination of

1) The coach inarticulately trying to get across what an amazing opportunity going to Michigan was because they turn down 4.0, 1500+ SATs, etc all the time.

2) Since this is 2015, the fact that the entire family had sandy vaginas because their special little snowflake was sort of-sort of-sort of-sort of dissed can't be discounted.

I think this is probably close to how it went down.

If the kid was already leaning towards Michigan, I don't understand why this perceived diss would be a deal-breaker. The school obviously still wanted him.

I feel like the Dad overreacted and his son is just parroting his outrage now.

This kid is kind of a head case I've been following his recruitment. He's been committed to Nebraska but keeps flirting with a ton of different schools. He's never intended on actually leaving Nebraska though, IMO

Michigan is among the top public universities in America, and not to mention, will be an elite football program very soon. A coach's unintentional insult is kind of a bad reason to decide not to attend a school. It's the kid's loss, not Michigan's.

Bingo

I had a better GPA than this kid and don't think I could've gotten into Michigan as a regular student. But I sure as hell would've taken the free ride to play football.

If he valued a Michigan degree beyond football as much as he claimed, the opportunity should've outweighed the insult.

Not if he takes the ACT and it comes in at 15.

The average GPA is get into tsun is way over 3.1. 92% of the incoming freshman are in the top 10% of their high school class with an ACT ranging from 28-32 or an SAT ranging from 1910-2210. A 3.1 doesn't generally result in test scores like those. So, unless he's an athlete that 3.1 probably isn't getting him enrolled at that university.

Unfortunately their is probably a zero percent chance this 3 star kid was thinking about this.

Is this why Michigan has the suck now?
