What makes Atlanta more of an attractive location for an NHL franchise than it was in the late 90’s?

Even 25 years ago they had the population and corporate money to have been successful in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

What makes it different this time?

Houston doesn’t seem like a good fit for the NHL. Yes they have a large population, but it’s not as transient of a population as DFW, Phoenix and Nashville. Not to mention that city is through and through an Astros city and with the Texans playing better football I could see it becoming more of an NFL city.

A hockey specific arena built in the middle of the season ticket holders for one. A much better ownership group for a second.

Is there any room to build it near where the Braves play now?

Is there any way to finagle this into the Predators not getting the second TV slot during the postseason?
