The problem with calling up Reyes means he only ends up with 70-80 innings. Which basically means you have thrown in the towel on him starting next season.

When does minor league season end? Call him up in September so he is still eligible for playoffs.

i'm not against dealing reyes
u dont buy for a rental, to play a 1 game playoff.
u buy to fix spot this year and next. got screwed doing that in Heyward trade. Was a horrible deal, trading for a soon to be free agent.
And Reyes has a ton of talent, but he also has control issues, which could doom him. I say sell high.

Control is a concern. They wouldn't deal him last year when the offense sucked, so I don't see him being moved when the only weakness is the bullpen. Who would you deal him for?

Either as part of a deal for Sonny Gray, possibly one of Minnesotas really good young players who are struggling.

I wouldn't be against that, but would have to give up a lot more for Gray. Probably have to give up Weaver and Bader as well. Athletics already want a buch for Hill, who is older and not cost controlled.

I do not approve of even considering to trade Reyes. Bring him up through the bullpen just like Martinez for a year I'm fine with that and think that may be a great development tool with how well it prepared and developed Carlos.
