How are their games? Is it decent hockey to watch or sloppy? I always loved going to games growing up and id love to see some live hockey again with my son.

I recall going to see the BR Kingfish back in the day. I know very little about hockey but I knew enough to know that I was watching crappy hockey.

It would probably be cool to go to a game with your kid once as a novelty. Probably lots of bells and whistles and music and crap that the kids like.

If they're in the SPHL chances are it's kinda sloppy. It's amazing how big of a drop off it is from the ECHL to SPHL. But it is hockey, and we don't have it in the Augusta, Ga area anymore

It is amazing how fast the ECHL collapsed down in this neck of the woods.

For a few years, the I-10 corridor was on fire with teams in Lafayette, BR, New Orleans, Biloxi, Jackson, MS, Mobile, Tallahassee, and Pensacola. Then within about 3 years, they all dried up. I think the fad just pretty much played itself out.

The Pensacola team won the last two titles.

Probably not the best goal scorers. But they are very physical. Hockey is probably the best sport to watch live.

Honestly, that is why I think hockey died in all these towns. The rednecks didn't appreciate the hockey...they just showed up wanting to see the fights.

The Kingfish were usually a low-scoring team and were honestly boring to watch from a hockey standpoint. Other teams would play 7-4 games and the Kingfish were always in 3-1 type games.

Some of the Kingfish/Icegator games and brawls were pretty epic though.

Downtown BR is kind of revitalized compared to when the Kingfish were here. I bet if they brought a team back it could turn into another thing to do downtown before bar hopping or whatever.

That old I-10 corridor had some great rivalries.

Fish/Gators, hell...really the whole Hibernia Cup

Mobile/Pensacola

It's a shame those teams couldn't last. That was fun hockey to watch

If you know the sport, you can tell it isn't the best, but there are some skilled guys out there. I go to as many games as I can and am rarely disappointed. Most of the games end up getting pretty chippy and physical.
