Doesnt seem like a good move. I imagine BM and Jesuit dominate attendance and both are in NOLA. That's gonna put a dent in it.

There are 80-90 teams in South LA and 10-12 in North LA. The LHSAA made this decision not in the best interest of kids, schools, or fans, but in the best interest of their pocketbook. The Shreveport facility waived usage fee and the executive committee voted despite most of the principles on the committee not having wrestling teams.

Typically LHSAA - all about money

This isn't the NCAA or NFL with advertising money flowing in, its the LSHAA. They are trying to keep from losing money here, and if a nice facility is offered to them for free then they are going to jump on it.

Nope. The River Center in BR waived rental fees as well and it's an even better facility for the tournament. However, the LHSAA stands to make more money in Shreveport. They would not have lost money in BR

I guess we'll just find out then if the drop off in attendance outweighs the usage fee they didn't want to pay.

But this seems like an idiotic move considering that the VAST majority of schools with wrestling programs are in the southern part of the state.

Since 1999 with one year in Shreveport during that time. It couldn't go back to the Pontchatrain Center though. The sport has outgrown that venue for quite some time.

That year worked out so well, that they informed the LHSAA that they "were unable to honor their bid for the following year"

What about at that place in Baton Rouge where the big regular season tourney is held?

What kind of space is needed for it?

Classic was at BRCC. Way too small. You need floor space for at least 10 mats for the State Tournament
