I'm not involved in the sports entertainment business, so I couldn't care less.

There are, however, people that might be upset at something like this.

:Admins: If this is a touchy subject that you dont want on your site, just let me know and i'll erase. I dont want to step on any toesies

He was fired because he was a bad assistant coach.

No.

The very suggestion is asinine. Stop it.

No it wouldn't.

Lionel Hollins and Avery Johnson were fired from NBA HC gigs after unqualified successful runs, as well.

Speaks to the capricious nature of some players and front offices in this sport. People need to quit trying to make this into something racist. It's ridiculous.

Although I know he's an American, I've always considered him a Russian.

Prejudice or not, he looks like a Russian.

So the real question is if he was the exact same coach but black, would Lebron would have respected him more? Since we know that's why he got fired.

It's not an asinine question IMO, didn't a similar scenario play out recently with Chris Paul?

No it wouldn't. Hollins had taken the Grizzlies to their first WCF ever and was fired the next season. Johnson was fired, what, 1 or 2 seasons after giving the Mavs their first Finals berth ever and nearly delivering the franchise's first ever title? Unprecedented levels of success for both franchises.

Get your head our of the clouds and quit trying to make it seem like it would be so much worse if Blatt were black. He's another casualty of the knee jerk way some NBA franchises do business.

Although it was the right choice, Mike Brown was fired after back-to-back seasons with the best record in the NBA (60+ wins). AND he also had an NBA finals under his belt.

Johnson won 80+ games and lost in 2 straight first rounds. Lol. Yea that's close to the same.

One of those was a freak first round (07).

I believe he had the highest winning percentage of any coach in franchise history during his tenure. The 06 team should have won it all if not for a historic (some say ref-aided) effort from Wade.

Regardless, he had a ton of success and was summarily dismissed. Not quite as stark as Blatt (his exact situation is unprecedented), but in much the same vein.

Suggesting that the reaction would be so much worse if Blatt were black is disingenuous no matter how you spin it.

He was fired because he didn't get along with the players. I don't think it had do with his race, but more with the culture. He'd been overseas for a while and I'm sure it was a big adjustment coming here and dealing with the egos of the stars. He wasn't good at it.

I don't think he should have been fired, but it has zero to do with his race.

All that being said, if he was black, Stephen A Smith would have a very different response than the one he's having right now

And as an aside, it amazes me how people still respond to SAS' and Skip Bayless' schticks
