Every year I'm happy when the Cubs have played themselves out of contention. After what their terrible fans did to Steve Bartman, I don't know how any decent human being would ever root for something to occur to make those animals happy.

When the Cubs win the World Series...
The sun will burn brighter, yet everywhere on earth the temperature will be 72 degrees with a slight breeze. Nations will topple only to be replaced with a one-world government headed by Emperor Theo I. Ivy will spontaneously sprout from all brick edifices, and shitty beer will flow from every spigot. Ron Santo shall be resurrected with his real legs and 2 perfect eternal pancreases. And look, in the sky. Its a massive flock of birds. Cardinals to be exact. Every Cardinal in the world migrating to Antarctica to die off, alone and cold.

In all honesty, I'm a big cubs fan and will be back in Wrigley next month. I think they are a few years away though. Wish they would have hired Ryno as manager. Would have made this rebuilding cycle more fun.
