quote:

The Cowboys will listen to offers for Tony Romo, sources said, once owner Jerry Jones has his meeting with the Pro Bowl quarterback. Romo prefers to be moved to a contending team -- specifically, the Texans, Cardinals, Broncos or Chiefs. The Bills also have significant interest in Romo, team and league sources said, though they realize that it might be a tough sell. The Bills have not given up hope on retaining Tyrod Taylor on a lesser contract, too, though that might be wishful thinking on their part at this point.

quote:

Romo's market will be robust as well. The Chiefs have to make a determination on whether he, or any other option, would give them a better opportunity to win a Super Bowl than Alex Smith does. Smith has already played out the guaranteed portion of his contract. If so, Smith would be a trade-worthy commodity as well. While some reported the Cowboys might just let Romo walk, the demand for him should be such that Jerry Jones gets a strong return on his investment. Some GMs opined that the Cowboys would get a second-round pick, plus potentially another high pick based on Romo's playing time (injuries have dogged him in recent years).

Dallas would make out like bandits if they get a 2nd rounder + a high conditional pick too

Cowboys are high AF if they think they are getting two picks for Romo. They will get a conditional draft pick tied to his playing time

Fwiw, the article stated it was not the Cowboys that said that.

It specifically says other GM's. Not the Cowboys. But lets defer to your expertise

Man, I would seriously consider it if I was Denver or Houston. Pray that Tony doesnt get hurt, and you have a legit super bowl contender the next 5 years

I'd give up a 2nd rounder in a heartbeat if I'm either of those 2 teams for Romo.

The money is an issue for the Texans. Watt and few others would have to restructure.

dumbass Texans fans are saying trade watt but they have no idea how NFL trades work or how valuable watt is to the defense. O

He has one season off and people are acting like he is a bum.

2nd rounder to take on that salary and injury history? No thanks.

Does anyone think he can actually make it to the playoffs remotely healthy?

Completely worth the risk. If he is healthy, you make a legit run at the super bowl the next 5 years.

What 2nd rounder are you going to get that is worth that?

Definitely.

Does he have a checkered history of injuries? Yes. But i think we go a bit overboard and almost act like he's never made it to the playoffs healthy.

He was healthy in 2014. Hurt in 2015. For all we know, he could have been healthy had he returned just this season as well.

It's certainly risky, but for a couple of those teams, a 2nd rounder is worth it IMO.

Even if you get 1-2 years of healthy you can argue it's worth it IMO

NFL teams seriously overrate their draft picks.
Agreed, for these contenders (low second), he would absolutely be worth it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Texans have NO chance? They can't afford it?

Probably semantics, but i think guys may just be underrating the value of going for it when you have the opportunity. Houston has a crazy good defense, they're a QB away from being a legit contender. I don't know the financials of it though, to be honest.

As for Romo, from 2011-2014, he missed 2 games(not sure why, didn't look it up.) 2015 he was injured. And again, for all we know, he could have been healthy for the playoffs this season, so the "Romo can't be healthy for a playoff run" mantra seems a little overblown IMO.

Yep. For example, here is a sample 2nd round draft. You really saying it isnt worth it to get Romo for this?

Agree with all of this. Houston's problem is that albatross of a contract they gave Osweiler.

Denver would immediately become a top 3 AFC team with Romo imo.

For teams that are a QB away from a deep run in the playoffs, he's worth it IMO.

Idk about playing another 5 years, though.

He is 36 coming off back surgery. He will be lucky to get one.

We don't even know what his arm is like or his legs. Denver noodle arm Manning could be strolling out there
