This is exactly why Kobe will never be better than Lebron. Kobe quits when the going gets tough.

Let;s hope that it is, along with a bunch of other self centered basketball players.

He should do what he thinks is best for him on the balance.

It is hard to have been the best and no longer be able to play at that level. Plus, his present contract is just unsustainable... I doubt his ego would be ok with playing for a rational number instead of his present compensation.

To bad LeBron overshadows him
just because he isn't the best player in the game, I don't think that overshadows his career accomplishments.

He's not retiring. He just wants the attention. If you are top 5 in scoring, you still have 3 plus years. He also wants to break the all-time scoring record to stand out from MJ.

I can easily see Kobe leaving the game like the NBA's Brett Favre.

I'll believe Kobe's retiring when I see it. I just pray he's not actually trying to get the lakers to pay up for him. That would be embarrassing.

I will miss him and his spectacular shoe line... Ordered/designed a new pair of his shoes on NikeID and love them!
