With Hamilton and De Shields Jr set to return I assume he gets sent back down.
during his time with Texas he has hit .224/.306/.461 with 5 home runs and a 42% strikeout rate.

Do you feel future All-Star/Top 3 third baseman? (Tonight he is playing center for first time ever)

Well played.

But it's "Callo", with a "C".

He'll hit 40 HRs and strike out 240 times. He would need a BABIP over .400 to hit .250 while striking out 40% of the time.

Gonna be hard with that strikeout rate. I believe Chris Carter had like a 24% k rate in the minors. He's at 34% in the majors. Gallo was around a 36% k rate in the minors.

Right now it looks like ML coaches and pitchers figured him out. .300 4HR in his first 11 games, .139 1HR 51% K rate in his last 11. He's got some adjustments to make.

42% k rate? Maybe Chris Carter isn't so bad after all.

He'll have a lot of 2011 Mark Reynolds type years.

That was my first thought. Chris Carter type guy with a .220ish avg and about 30 hr a year.

For cheap, rotgut wine, it has a nice fragrant bouquet to it.

Confident he'll be a pretty good ball player. He typically does well his second time around at every stop he makes. He works with Jason Giambi, Troy Tulowitzki, among others during the off season. The kid is going to strike out a lot... that's pretty much a given. At the same time, he'll be a pretty good player because he wants and works hard for it. I mean even if he has a Russell Branyan type career, it that really a bad thing? He played 14 years in the majors. He'll be better than that though.

It is if you are counting on a player to be a cornerstone/building block of the franchise

Well that's relative to how the Rangers view him. I don't view him as a cornerstone but one of many important pieces to build with.

Compared to the people posting in this thread, no.

But Branyan played in more than 116 games just once in his career. So hopefully Gallo's career mirrors Branyan's 162 game average and not his actual career, which I think will probably happen.
