I said it yesterday that retiring is the easy way. He should have been fired, on the spot. It is not that difficult. I remember reading the ESPN ticker that stated Penn State officials were working on Paterno's leave. The process could take a a couple of weeks. It isn't that hard to get in there, get on camera, and tell him to... Takes about 20 minutes tops.

I'm not convinced he finishes the season.

Once again JOE THE EGOTIST calls his own shot here. He should not be allowed to coach another practice much less a game. This is bigger than football.

Ridiculous. There will be circuses for the rest of the season at their games and deservedly so. POS

No one at Peen State has any balls. Everyone is afraid of him.

Can't wait to see the fluff pieces about what a great dude he is.

fricking absurd he gets any more time at the helm. Penn State is a disgrace.

I would let him coach the last home game this weekend then part ways. Must remember that he was the only one who did everything "legally", although still fricked up morally

They probably gave Paterno an ultimatum. I doubt that he retired of his own will.

Cowardly. If they are going to force him out, they should do so immediately. Either way he is retiring in disgrace. Not like the circus from now until the bowl game will allow him to retire with any shred of dignity.

From what I've read yesterday and today, sound like you and lester earl would do exactly what joe pa did and expect to get away with it.

frick joe... he deserves nothing better than to be fired this week before the game.

I'm not sure we know this with 100% certainty right now. All we know is that the grand jury did not think he lied during his testimony.

you lack perspective Neck. I know you are trying to be fair, but honestly you lack perspective on this. allowing anyone involved in this cover up to continue to operate for another second continues to send the message that PSU's image, Joes's legacy, and football is more important than protecting kids and doing WHAT IS RIGHT

I love how none of teh ESPN people are willing to say anything remotely negative about him or McGinger "until we hear his side" or "until we hear exactly what he told the AD" etc. Jay Bilas was like "what on earth could be an excuse for mcginger" and then finally Mike Golic started with the "I'M SO MAD, I'D BEAT EM UP MYSELF!!!" routine after 3 days of basically no commenting on it for 3 hours a day.
