Everyone should keep their hands to themselves, unless you're willing to deal with the consequences of your actions.

Not really, a woman can't go around assaulting people without expecting repercussion.

I doubt Joe Mixon had any reason at all to think he literally needed to 'defend himself' from a white, likely sororitized OU female.
Also, why the frick is a English news source reporting on this? Talk about random.

The Daily Mail loves American social pathology.

Aww man it's a white chick too?

She did slap him. That does not mean she deserved what she got but she escalated the situation. He also sat out a year and was charged. Seems he was punished. If I was her family however I would feel the same way they do about it

And the way OU has handled this has been a PR nightmare. They should have released the video when all this went down.
Now the video will be released and they will have to deal with the same situation all over again.

I thought the video was destroyed?

jesus christ, this couldn't be further from the truth.
i'm not defending mixon in any way, and i would have been perfectly fine with him being kicked out of the program, but your post is very dramatic.

Sounds like they are taking tips from the Baylor PR department.

'Almost immediately, I was made to feel like it was my fault,' she said of the 'unbearable' attention
That is because it party was her fault. He was arrested, charged, and suspended for a year from the football team. He dealt with the consequences and moved on. If 'she' was a 'he', not one person on this board would be advocating for a suspension greater than a game or two.

I think the table or what ever she hit on the way down did the most damage. He was wrong with hitting her, but let's not act as if she innocent.
That's like me punching Mike Tyson and get in all my feelings when he breaks my face.

She also had her jaw shattered when she hit a table on the way down.
Despicable way OU handled this.

And apparently learned absolutely nothing in the process:
quote:
Are you sorry about what happened?
Mixon: “I won’t answer that.”
Do you have any regrets at all about anything?
Mixon: "No."
What did you learn about yourself during your one-year suspension?
Mixon: “What do you mean what did I learn?”
Did the one-year suspension change you?
Mixon: “I don’t think it changed who I am, but it definitely made me a stronger person.”
What did you mean by your tweet in September, quickly deleted, that said this season is dedicated to your haters?
Mixon: “I know what I meant by it. Y’all just blew it out of proportion.”
