Like I said, it was incredibly frustrating because he has all of the physical tools and had some moments of greatness in 2012.

I can see that. I'm hoping that a drop in competition may help him play better, but a deep throw is a deep throw regardless of who you're playing.

1. Very good arm
The only good thing you could say is that it is strong. He's really, really inaccurate, so I would say he has a bad arm.
quote:
2. Decent runner
Yeah I mean he's big and fast and strong, but his rushing stats weren't particularly good this season.
quote:
3. Inaccurate past 10 yards
Yes, but also inaccurate inside 10 yards. He's constantly way off target on quick slants and WR screens.
quote:
4. Does not throw a good deep ball
yes
quote:
5. If primary receiver is covered, he rolls right every time.
If primary receiver is covered, he just keeps staring at the primary receiver for the next 2-3 seconds before he either gets A) sacked or B) throws it to the (usually covered) receiver, often resulting in a pick.
quote:
6. Florida's OL is terrible. Rarely had time in the pocket.
I think we were pretty average on OL. Much worse last year than this year. We looked a lot worse with driskel back there cause he held on to the ball forever and didn't know how to move in the pocket.
quote:
7. Florida's receivers drop a lot of balls. Does Driskel throw too hard?
They do, but they seem to drop more when Jeff is in. He throws it really hard, but also inaccurately. Our receivers are not great overall, though.
quote:
8. Makes an occasional tremendous throw (1 out of every 15 throws).
I can't remember any tremendous throws he's ever made, though I'm sure he's made some.
quote:
9. Does not look down field much. 90% of throws seem to be less than 10 yards.
Yeah, that's probably right. That's probably a coaching decision, though. We did everything we could to make sure he doesn't frick us over. But he always found a way.
If Driskel somehow became a good QB, it would be the most amazing turnaround I've ever seen. I'd be surprised if he won the starting job anywhere he goes.

Or, maybe, just maybe, it's because it's a shite school in a shite town

There is more to your hate than not liking Ruston, although if true, you have to be the most miserable person in the world, in which case I feel sorry for you.

The only people I know that hate Ruston, are the people who go in with a negative image and are closed minded.
Ruston is a wonderful town for college students. I can understand not wanting to stay after college because there isn't a lot for the young adult but it is a great college town. Ruston is what you make of it. If you get involved and meet people, you'll love it. If you stick to your apartment, don't get involved and meet people you'll think Ruston is the worst place in the world.

Thanks. Sounds pretty hopeless.
Tech just needs someone who makes safe throws (either the WR catches it or no one does). We don't need a turnover machine and we don't need someone too conservative to take his shots downfield. Driskel doesn't sound like the answer for us, but he should be a damn good backup!

Of course our worthless WRs didn't exactly give him any help.

Don't expect him to be a backup. I don't think Skip is going to throw Price Wilson or Alex Woddall out there as freshmen. Rumors are running that Higgins is transferring (because he sucks).
I think Driskell will start and he won't be asked to do to much. He won't have to carry the offense. That will be left to Dixon, Henderson, Turner, Taylor, Craft and Company.

then why did you go there to begin with?

Ponchatoulas, ronin, log cabin, Pekings, Logan's, Applebee's, raw, and a couple more. I had a blast in Ruston while I was at tech from 95-2000. Of course I'm from around there so I knew all the places off the beaten path in Ruston and monroe.

Teams stack the box on Dixon. We will have to have a good QB. Driskel looks a lot like Higgins to me.

Obviously his career had ups and downs
i mean he had plenty of downs. i don't know how many "ups" he had to make this true

It's not like he will be going against the defenses of Georgia, scar, lsu, miss st, ole miss, Tennessee, etc..... He will be against rice, Marshall, usm, and others.

So it's either A: You have no friends or B: You were academically suspended and lost an appeal
i'll tell you this
if i went to tech, i'd have hated it as much as TH did (and i've spoken to tons of people who went there)
just not my scene
