I understand that only up to a point.

The more recent stories breaking sound like Paterno knew, not just back in the late 90's but as far back as the 60s or 70s. At this point he's still trapped in full denial mode but there will come a time when he's confronted by enough victims that he's going to be embarrassed.

Most men would rather deny a hard truth than face it. Time to turn and face the void, Jay. frickin nut job.

He should have a face to face chat/interview (if he writes for Statecollege.com) with some of the victims. I'd like to see him try and defend his father's actions.

That's irrelevant. Would you defend Hitler's or Stalin's kid?

The Menendez brothers don't agree with you.

It's just a matter of trying to put myself in his shoes. I just think the guy is just trying to deal with this horrible situation the best way he knows how. His father was publicly admonished and fired for covering up some pretty horrific crimes. Then he dies. That's a rough few years.

JoePa's definitely a piece of crap but I don't think it's that easy to just turn on a family member if Jay knew him as a good father. I wouldn't be in the public eye as much to defend him, but I can't pretend to know that I'd be handling it any better than him.

This is the issue. If he's interviewed and answers certain questions one way, then that's one thing...but yes out there on there actively defending things that keep coming out. Just stay off social media, and media altogether.

Jesus fricking Christ.

Talk about hyperbole.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion or hating on PSU but bringing in mass murderers...shite dude, what the hell?

Did JoePa start WWII?

Have some fricking perspective.

Yeah, a better comparison would be a son of someone who covered up for a serial rapist. Something like the publicist or lawyer for Bill Cosby.

But I think he was making a point with hyperbole more than a direct comparison. If your family member does something terrible you don't stop loving them - but your love doesn't take away the bad they did either.

I'll defend JoePa.

Did you read the letter that Jay wrote? It was much better than the Washington Post writer.

JoePa didn't know about Sandusky...period.

The 1976 victim, identified in court records as John Doe 150, said that while he was attending a football camp at Penn State, Sandusky touched him as he showered. Sandusky’s finger penetrated the boy’s rectum, Doe said, and the boy asked to speak with Paterno about it. Doe testified that he specifically told Paterno that Sandusky had sexually assaulted him, and Paterno ignored it. “Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, ‘I don’t want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?’ ” the man’s lawyer asked. “Yes . . . I was shocked, disappointed, offended. I was insulted. . . . I said, is that all you’re going to do? You’re not going to do anything else?”

This witness specifically states he told Paterno and was ignored.
