Demons win and have to knock off SFA next.

Did West not get POY?

Jalen and Zeek got totally screwed by the SLC, They gave it to Thomas Walkup of SFA who didn't have nearly as good of a year as Jalen or Zeel but the SLC has always been Texas-biased for a few years now (hence our tourney being in a non-centralized location in Texas)

Yeah both Jalan and Zeek should have gotten it over Walkup

SFA fan tried to argue Walkup had better stats because he shot 57%. Well, Jalan and Zeek are guards shooting tougher shots and Zeek shot 55.6% and scored 7 more ppg, Jalan scored 4 more ppg and leads the country in assists per game.

Walkup's numbers were very average for a conference POY

Zeek just got single season scoring record and we get him for 2 more years. It will be fun watching him and Jalan next year.

Walkup is extremely more efficient than West. Walkup is a guard too Fyi..

57% is a big difference from 44%. Sure West's base stats are higher because he plays more minutes and shoots more shots. Their Per 40s are as follows:

Walkup:

57% shooting, 22.5 points, 5 assists, 9.4 rebounds

West:

44% shooting, 22.5 points, 8.8 assists, 4.8 rebounds.

I don't see how you can argue for West, or at the very least say it's absurd to give it to Walkup. West is more volume scoring over Walkup, that's why his bare naked stats are "better".

Plus Walkup is just as good, if not a better defender.

Well POY is voted on by coaches and SIDs. But I mean that's what happens when you're clearly the best team in the conference(not saying we can't be beat tho of course).

ETA: ok that was a dirty shot

Hats off to SFA for the win, rebounds killed us tonight.

Best of luck in the title game and in the tourney.

Going to have to agree to disagree about the POTY award.

There's no doubt on POY

Yes, I listened to the whole game and we trailed by 8-13 most of the 2nd half but looking at the stats rebounds is the only place they really beat us. Everything else was pretty equal, they had 6 more free throws, but they had the same damn official from the away game. Gotta get bigger inside for next year.

I'm gonna try to make it back in town for the postseason game thursday night.

If I didn't have to work the next morning I would definitely make the trip. Hope to make the second round if we advance.

Y'all are literally the last team I like playing from the SLC year in and year out. Usually field good teams and it's tough competition. At the end of the day were splitting hairs with two really good players. But of course we have to support our own guys.

Going to miss Jacob Parker next year, he was a fun player to watch and I still believe he is the best player on your team.

We are losing Frazier who is solid in the post but return West and Woodley. If we can improve our post play and rebounding next year I think we can be quite good.

There head to head numbers are as follows: west 23.3 pts/gm 8.0 ast/gm 3.3 reb/gm 1 stl/gm walkup 14.3 pts/gm 5.0 ast/gm 8.3reb/gm .33 stl/gm

Season stats: west 19.4 pts/gm 4.2 reb/gm 7.7 ast/gm .4 blk/gm 2.2 stl/gm 2.8 to/gm 2pt% 45 3pt% 40.9 ft% 85.4
Walkup 15.5 pts/gm 6.5 reb/gm 3.5 ast/gm .2 blk/gm 1.2 stl/gm 2.1 to/gm 2pt% 56.9 3pt% 28.2 ft% 73.9

Those are the actual stats. Obviously you feel the need to bring up the per 40 averages but neither of them play 40 mins a game so that is irrelevant. I live in the real world and not in a hypothetical one.

If you have to bring in per 40 stats, that would mean the POY ain't playing enough minutes, to me that means he ain't POY

You're so edgy with this one, bro ^.

West's stats are higher because he plays more minutes and shoots more. simple as that. The per 40s are an indicator if all things equal that would be their average stats and Walkup has proven to be more efficient.

And Walkup doesn't play as much or shoot as much because he's doesn't need to/isn't ask to. SFA has a much better/deeper team. So why run a player until he's on empty when you have solid depth can come in an run an advantage on other teams' twos. This is POY not MVP. Yes, West is probably more valuable to his team's success, because they lack the depth SFA does, but I think Walkup is the better player, at worst just as good.

I won't argue anything you said except this. At worse, Walkup is nowhere near the play West is. At his best he might be equal.

Simply put, no one else in the conference can take over a game like West. he is simply phenomenal and the best player in the conference.

I actually somewhat believe this too, at least more valuable and in terms of leadership. Although Walkup is still very good.

And I just think Walkup is every bit as skilled and fundamentally sound as West is.

I'll agree Walkup is fundamentally better but I do give the athletic edge to West which fits the styles of each team.

Either, way SFA has a very impressive team and hopefully you guys can notch a few wins in the tourney and help bring some more respect to our conference.

Should be some great games next year if both teams keep playing the way they have been.

Best of luck tomorrow
