Coughlin was head coach from 1995-2002, Coughlin took the Jaguars to the AFC Championship Game in 1996 and 1999. Coughlin's Jaguars won 49 regular season games in his first five years as head coach, a remarkable average for an expansion team of nearly 10 wins per year. He went on to take the Giants to two Super Bowls.

Marrone coached the Jaguars final two game after Gus Bradley who was fired on Dec. 18 after a 21-20 loss to the Houston Texans. Under Marrone, they won one and lost one.

I wouldn't want a snake like Marrone as my HC. The dude can't be trusted to stay for the long haul at all.

I don't understand the HC hire at all.

Funny how the white man keeps getting fourth and fifth chances

I kind of don't consider him a retread.
He was going a good job in Buffalo and left of his own accord because Buffalo did a shite job drafting his contract (in his favor) and he wanted to get out of a dysfunctional organization.
He misjudged the good ole boys club and was penalized for it, and worked his way back up.
He's a good coach. Its not amazing hire, but he will do a solid job I bet.

New Yorker moves to Florida to retire. I really don't understand why NFL teams do this.

Mark me down as one Jags fan who is OK with this move. The team looked a lot better those last two games under Marrone. Particularly, Bortles played well.
Coughlin running personnel gives me hope

will agree its not a splash hire but Jacksonville probably wasn't interested in giving another coach his first head coaching gig either.
at least Marrone is an offensive minded coach so maybe (big maybe) he can help out Blake Bottles. Or would he have the stones to draft another QB in the 1st round?

New York Giants need Coughlin back desperately.
