What is youth participation in it like over there? Serious question.

What was more watched, the 1990 Super Bowl overseas or the 1990 World Cup Final in the US?

I will assume it's shitty or nonexistent from that answer.

I would actually support London hosting a Super Bowl much, much more over getting a team.

I am fine with that. I feel like they should at least do a few of those before they start entertaining the idea of putting a team there

It was a bad question and shows you don't understand the nature of the youth soccer culture in the US and the problems it has actually created for the overall growth of that game in America.

honestly i think the NFL has more room to grow in Canada... there is room for teams in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver even if the CFL is there (it's a minor league)

#1 They will play 4 game blocks home and away.

that solves their problem, but not teams that have to ply to london to play a team that lives there

It doesn't solve the timezone issues (London is 5 hours ahead of eastern time)

It creates a whole new set of logistical issues of a team not only being on the road for 4 weeks but also being away from their facilities for 4 weeks.

This is a fricking stupid idea.

Because you will be back in the states at 5-7 am from the trip, basically wasting an entire day of prep for the next weeks game. Unless of course every team who plays there gets a bye week the next week like you proposed but have yet to explain how it would work

Pretty simple. The NFL wants to go back to 2 bye weeks anyway so they have another week of inventory and can charge the TV companies more. Every team that plays at London would get a bye week after that as one of their 2.

Flights to london are going to be about 2 hours longer form the closest eastern teams, than those teams oddly have going to the farthest western teams.

As for bye weeks, they are going to have to play division games. so if you are in the division with this teams your whole schedule revolves around these exessivle inconvenient team that you are going to have to play jet lagged twice a year.

Furthermore unless you put them in a division consisting of only NE teams, you will have Houston having ti play a game in London every year.

If you have ever been to europe, then you know this is a fricking terrible idea.

I kinda disagree.

One of the main reasons for the popularity of the sport is that it is uniquely American and something that singularly binds the country because of that. If it becomes another international sport, that will be lost to a degree.

Now, that doesn't mean they will be making a poor decisions from a revenue standpoint, but it absolutely will diminish the popularly in the US

I forgot what website it was maybe deadspin, put out an article poking a lot of holes in how popular the NFL actually is in London. Basically the outside of a small base not many people over there really care about the NFL but see it more as a novelty when it comes to town.

How much are the London players going to have to pay in taxes? I'd imagine it would be kind of ridiculous.

FWIW, the games at Wembley have sold out every time. Far in advance.

Theres a lot wrong with doing this. Fan support isn't one of them.

Because it's a novelty to them and the NFL makes a spectacle of it.

When the London Monarchs played in the World League/NFL Europa, they were averaging like 10,000 fans per home game before they finally left.

When the Patriots last played in London, Sky Sports News asked random people on the street for their opinions on Tom Brady and no one knew who the frick he was.

The NFL is grossly overestimating their global appeal with the London talk imo.
