As it stands now they'd likely get in the playoff despite not being the conference champion. They would have nothing to gain by being in the conference championship game, only extra risk. That to me probably speaks volumes that this system is far from perfect.

So your definition of a perfect system in today's conference climate is only conference winners get in?

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah, you don't want to be shitting your pants on selection day not knowing what the committee might do.

Ask Bama. It has worked out great for them before.

How can one claim to be the best team in the nation if you are not the best team in your division?

I was never for it, but I now wish we had more than 4 teams so I wouldn't feel like Ohio State doesn't deserve to go because they didn't even win their division.

They haven't had 2 teams from the same conference yet in the CFP. I'm curious to see if this is the year.

It will be hard to include tOSU on the playoff, yet not have the B1G champ as well, especially if it is PSU.

However, should other conference champions look so so, I have probably no issue to include an 11-1 tOSU team, along with a Wisconsin or PSU team.

If Washington wins out, it's very unlikely, IMO.

IMHO, tOSU belongs in the playoff after winning out whether that includes the B1GCG or not...and y'all will win out.

LSU didn't have a loss. They were considered one of the best teams/defenses of all time. They beat the snot out of so many other conference champs. The game was insanely close(OSU PSU was as well, I know). Oregon and Oklahoma State lost late as hell.

That year, it looked like they put the 2 best teams in. They jjust happened to be in the same division. And both LSU and Alabama made it. They didn't pick Alabama over the SEC champ.

Unless it's clearly obvious a team is better ..I'd rather see a conference winner or loser get in rather than a team get in after a virtual bye week.

Ohio State not even winning their division and getting in would bother me. How can that be rewarded?

Bruh.

Call it what you want. You know what the 2 teams looked like and did that season. And if the BIG champ goes along with OSU, then fine. But if OSU goes and the BIG champ doesn't, then like I said, the situations aren't alike.

How can playing two cupcakes and losing to a mediocre team out of conference be rewarded?

Hammering Oklahoma on the road, coming from behind to beat Whisky on the road, drilling Nebraska, and assuming they beat Michigan like I think they will, that shall be rewarded.

And I wouldn't mind OSU making it over the conference champion. They're better, and the best teams should make it. Just pointing out why I don't think the situations are the same.

I've never been a conference champs or else guy.
