Lebron was a douche with the decision and and did take an easier path.

KD went to a team he couldn't beat. A team that just went 73-9 and has a wayyy better lineup than Miami did when Lebron defected there. OKC surrounded KD with great pieces, the Cavs absolutely did not.

If you can't understand the significant difference between the two situations and why most everyone is agreeing this is worse than lebron to miami, I don't know what to tell you.

Its not a significant difference. You are catastrophizing details to rationalize acceptance of one and to justify harsh condemnation for the other.

Both sought the path of least resistance that retained a high quality of life given the realistic options available. That is the heart of what happened in both situations when we are talking about the decisions themselves. No matter how much you want to inflate how important the marginal details surrounding one situation differentiates it from the other.

Your argument is basically trying to differentiate and catastrophize one over the other because some details are different.

eh, i guess.

durant joined a team that literally doesn't need him to win a championship. i think that makes it a little different.

Catastrophizing, rationalizing, et cetera

I like KD wanted to see him win a ring at OKC. He did go onto a better situation, but in the sports world that doesn't matter, he'll still catch shite for it. I'm sure you knew that though.

Different in details, not underlying strategy. Both sought the path of least resistance available to them.

Dude the situations are different whether you like it or not. You're rationalizing harder than anyone in this thread. Just accept it KD couldn't beat em so he joined em (73 win team).

In details yes, in underlying strategy and motivations, no.

Again, both sought the path of least resistance given realistic alternatives that would also allow them to play with friends. This is not even up for debate. Its what happened.

The best you all are coming up with is stupid arguments like "well Lebron's team was worse." "The Warriors were already established, so thats just soooooo different and bad for reasons."

LOL. When given the opportunity to be a part of perceived most dominating team on the most advantageous path available they both took the opportunity. And if you doubt that is what Lebron thought I present to you "not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7!!!"

I wonder which one of the posters railing against KD today would turn down their own job opportunity that gave them a better chance to succeed in a more fun environment. All of em, I'm sure!!!

This is exactly it. If you think that there is an issue with super teams and don't like the sportsmanship because of a lack of parity then take issue with the way that the NBA is structured. Don't criticize someone who is trying to do what it takes to win within the confines of the rules.

The way LeBron handled his switch to a super team is a little different from the way Durant did it.

where Lebron went he was always gonna be 1 or 1A...

Durant's going from 1A to 2... this is Steph Curry's team

I've never had an issue with what LeBron did. At the time and to this day it was the biggest free agency story ever. To me, an interview was the right way to do it. The Miami flame press conference was worse, imo.

I have no issue with the way either of them handeled F/A.

This should be the first reply to every single KD thread that will be posted this week.

I don't understand why so many people are taking this so seriously.

Im a lebron fan... and its perfectly okay to not be a lebron fan. Hell its fine to be a lebron hater. Thats what makes sports so fun, everyone likes different players. But holy shite please do not say the decision is the reason you "hate" lebron. That is the stupidest shite ever. If that bothers someone sooooo much, they have more issues than lebron. Omg he went on espn to announce where he is going!!! the horror, what a pos! Burn him at the stake. The dude has literally been one of the best role models in the nba. Never arrested, never faild drug test, never beat women.. nothing! But omg what about the decision!!!

On the Lebron decision, the people who hate Lebron in large part hate him because of that. Why? Who TF knows. If he left again after next season the people of Cleveland would be accepting of it and still personally love him. The people who hate Lebron now would crucify him more for it. Sports needs idiotic and brainless fans, the people who still hate Lebron for leaving the first time are those same fans.

You are spot on Roger.

And you have 60 downvotes. Speaks to the irrationality of this board when it comes to LeBron James. And that means both the haters and the lovers.

It's very simple and you stated it in your post.

I wish he would have stayed because they were already so close this year, and that would have been fun to watch. But it seems like Westbrook might have left next year anyway, and then Durant and OKC would be in a bad spot.

I'm more impressed with how OKC ownership handled this PR vs Gilbert's complete melt.
