XLV didn't even have the host stadium on the logo , lazy uncreative fricks.
There's a version with the stadium...OP just didn't post it. When the NFL moved to the new logo system, they have a version with and without the stadium for different applications like national or regional marketing.

I heard that in response to all of the complaints, the NFL was going to change it up next year and just have one letter under Super Bowl.

it's on purpose and it looks like shite
instead of an individual and unique season we're watching a never ending soap opera
the individual logos were the best...my favorite is xxxvi

The unique logos were better for the most part.

I see no reason why there shouldn't be both the standard logo as well as an alternate local logo.

You can thank Goodell for this. The logo is generic and bland, just like he is. He also changed the hunt and halas trophies to look like cheap light crap.
Fun fact: the last super bowl year with the original halas/hall trophies and unique logo was XLIV -- the Saints' year.
The lesson, as always -- Goodell sucks.

This was a bigger issue for me. The new trophies are awful.

Goodell wanted to have everything look more similar -- halas/hunt, logo, lombardi. I think the title games have logos too. None of which was necessary. I loathe the new trophies, and hate that the logos are so damn generic. They look like some old video game logo.

it just feels like a never ending game instead of a unique individual moment
superbowl 49...to be continued in super bowl 50

and I agree, the George halas trophy was a beauty, now it looks like hot garbage

Super Bowl XXXVI was supposed to be this logo before 9/11 prompted the change:

It's called branding, it's a good thing

If you knew anything about branding and marketing you'd know that uniformity and simpleness is key.

If you go back and look at the old ones they all look very unique. Goddell needs to step his game up

SB XLV was the first to use the new logo system...and they stuck to it with merchandise and everything:
After that game, they introduced a secondary logo and branding for the specific site and it was used sparingly for SB XLVI and has become a bit more prominent every game since, showing up a lot more on merchandise:

I think they have the same view as the NCAA re: generic NCAA tournament court designs...easier for branding or some shite.
Wish they woud go back to the unique courts especially with all the games televised now across different networks. Would be nice to tell which region or city you are looking at by the court design

Yeah, cause if there's anything the Super Bowl was lacking, it was visibility and public notoriety.
No one I know had any clue what the Super Bowl was prior to the uniform branding starting with XLV.
