Job well done. Behind LSU, I think LT has the most potential as far as public schools are concerned. I like ULL, but I think their location will hinder their growth.

From a football standpoint, Tech is going in the wrong direction. They become more irrelevant every year as non BCS programs continually produce better results.
Dooley couldn't do it. Now he's at Tennessee. What does it say about Tech if Dooley has success in the SEC?

I guess we're about to find out, aren't we? Dooley's X's and O's were horrible, as Volunteer fans are about to find out. What Dooley did was make administrative changes to put things back in motion at Tech for success. As a game schemer, he was miserable. That freakin' delayed draw play over and over is what cost us most of our games. He was a great AD though and I'm grateful we had him. Coach Dykes is gonna take us to the next level!

Dooley has put Tech in a GREAT position. He's probably the best thing that ever happened to Tech. He fired up the base and explained what is needed to take Tech to the next level. He provided a vision that no one else had done. His successor shares his vision and we have hired a better fundamental football coach than Derek Dooley and are paying him a higher salary than we were paying Dooley. The future appears very bright at Tech. I think y'all will notice it with this year's team. They are very young, but extremely talented. Most of y'all saw some of that in Tiger Stadium last year.

Wasn't this discussion about football programs? How did it turn into academic prowess? So you believe your LSU degree (I'm assuming you have one) is better than my ULM degrees (BS & MS)? You do realize that what makes a school good or not is the professors. My professors had PhDs from LSU and other great schools. You really need to think a little more before typing ridiculous statements.

Wait, what? This isn't serious is it? ULM could maybe be a 2 year school but the rest of this is just stupid.

Great schools and LSU doesn't belong in the same sentence.

Yeah each school has its niche as well. Plus when we're talking major public universities in Louisiana, we have to mention ULL. ULL's got some great programs and research. ULM has its troubles, but it has its purposes too, and of course everyone knows about their pharmacy program.

Maybe you can help petition at the state capitol to try to reduce the Lafayette font more on the interstate sign. Shrinking the font won't make USL relevant.

Still surprised ULM is still open. And yes I think my ME degree from LSU is worth a lot more than a degree from ULM!

Do these financials look like those of a sleeping giant?

Football ticket sales = $1.4 million

All sports ticket sales (including football) = $1.6 million

Direct Institutional Support (taxpayer subsidy) = $6.4 million

Total home ticket sales as a percent of total revenues = ~10%

Sounds like a program about to burst on the national scene to me.

Here you go. You have to scroll through by agency. Different universities are on different audit cycles, so the report for ULL for example may not be as current. The truth is that Latech, ULL, and ULM do not remotely come close to making a profit.

I know my engineering degree from LSU is better.

It's hard to calculate exactly because tech is notorious for witholding actual attendance but if you take the $1.4 million annual football revenues, divide that by the six home games that year, then use their standard claim of 20k/game attendance; that means their average ticket price is around $12. What does it cost to attend a high school game these days?

that should be about right for a tech-like program

you forgot the tshirt sales and sponsorships...

for chalmette you pay $30 for 7 home games

ULL Cool J doesn't know what he's talking about. Our budget also comes from LTAC and private donations. Our ticket price is definitely not $12, PLUS you have to realize a lot of people are now using season tickets, not single-game walk-up tickets. OH yeah, and what about students who get in free? STFU
